Dr. Andrea Lodge

Dr. Andrea Lodge

Organist & Choir Director

All Staff

Dr. Andrea Lodge is a specialist in contemporary music, dedicated to introducing audiences to fresh and adventurous sounds. She has performed as soloist at events such as the International Sound Symposium, the International Computer Music Conference, Princeton Sound Kitchen and the New Found Music Festival. She has commissioned and premiered new works by current voices in contemporary music, including Phong Tran, Yaz Lancaster, Christopher Adler and Brian Simalchik. She has been hailed as “A Must-See” (The Telegram, St. John’s) and was awarded top prizes at the Eckhardt-Gramatté Competition for the performance of contemporary music.

Much of Andrea’s work is collaborative; she is a founding member of the new music quartet, Hypercube, which has been active since 2014. Her performance activities extend to engagements with the nief-norf collective, the Atlantic String Quartet, and a variety of vocalists specializing in operatic and musical-theater repertoire. Her growing discography highlights her commitment to new music, including Hypercube’s acclaimed albums Brain on Fire and The Force for Good; the evocative Dew Drops On a Lotus Leaf which showcases Marga Richter’s vocal works; Elliot Cole’s Night Flower; and Flames Will Grow, with saxophonist Allison Adams.

As an educator, Andrea teaches at Adelphi University and CUNY York College. She is the Organist and Choir Director at Zion Episcopal Church in Douglaston, Queens. Andrea holds a DMA in Piano Performance from Stony Brook University.

Additionally, Andrea plays Newfoundland and Irish folk music with her husband, Jay Sorce. They are currently training their 3 year-old son Charlie to be part of the band.
