Family Ministries

Worship is for Everybody!
Families are encouraged to worship together at Zion. Whether that’s at This Little Light – a service designed for young families – or during our 10:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist, children are welcomed to be their full, authentic selves in church.
We know this means wiggles, giggles, and curious questions. Take a deep breath – these are the joyful sounds of the Body of Christ at work. If your child needs to move around to get some wiggles out, please feel free to use the side aisles or the space near the church entrance.
In the back of the church, people of all ages will find our Sensory Station, which offers fidget kits, books, and other engaging activities. We also provide things like noise canceling headphones, stretch bands, and other sensory tools so that people of all neurological needs can participate fully in worship.
9:00 a.m. – This Little Light (September – May):
A 30-minute service designed especially for young families. We gather on rugs around a small altar to sing, pray, hear stories, and share communion. “Shake your sillies out” and meet our friendly sock puppet helpers who bring God’s stories to life.
9:30 a.m. – Zion Family Hour (September – May):
We embrace a formation model that emphasizes the importance of spiritual growth for the whole family. Young people and their caregivers gather for snacks, stories, and hands-on activities to learn, pray and play together. Caregivers and Parents are children’s number one spiritual teacher, whether they know it or not. Our goal is to empower caregivers to feel confident in that role while spending quality family time together.
This fall, we’re diving into the story of Creation with Storymakers NYC. This wonderful curriculum focuses on social emotional learning with biblical text. It’s an engaging way to dig deeper into a story so many people already know and love.
10:30 a.m. – Holy Eucharist:
Our main service, which usually runs about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Children and youth are an invaluable part of our community and are fully welcomed in this service.
