Zion has been an active part of the Douglaston-Little Neck community for almost 200 years. We love this neighborhood and we love the people who live here even more and we are committed to shining Christ’s light and sharing Christ’s love to all around us.
Diaper Bank
Zion established what is currently the only Diaper Bank in Queens. Together we have raised over $2500 and donated over 150 cases of diapers to families, as well as nearly 4,0000 menstrual products. To donate items, bring them to the blue bin on the porch to the Parish Hall or donate online here.
The Walter Wientge Memorial Fund
The Walter Wientge Memorial Fund was established to honor the faith, humility, and generosity of our departed friend and fellow parishioner, Walter Wientge who died in February of 2020.
Last year, we were able to give away nearly $9,000 to local charities that address food insecurity:
- Commonpoint Queens
- La Jornada Food Pantry
- The Ali Forney Center (serves homeless LGBTQ+ youth)
- The North Brooklyn Angels Food Truck
- Hungry Monk Food Truck
The purpose of this fund is to aid those in the parish and in our community who need financial assistance in any form in these trying times. Requests from individuals will remain private, and the fund will also be used to continue Zion’s ministries to those experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. Please take a moment to consider making a donation to the Walter Wientge Memorial Fund, and please don’t hesitate to contact Mother Lindsay if you or your family needs financial help in this time.
Pop-Up Food Pantry
For most of 2021, Zion operated a pop-up food pantry on the last Sunday of the month for anyone in need of assistance with groceries.
